Sitting back on her favorite bench, Xavier was back in the Courtyard with the ravens, watching the occasional straggler beat up ravens for the beginner's quest. It was probably one of her favorite pass times because the players tended to be so focused on finishing off the birds that they never even noticed her. She was especially glad for this today because she had just finished learning how to cook from the very same old woman who gave out the beginner quest, bringing the pie they made to the bench with her. Thinking about it, she wondered if she just kept coming back here to feel close to the woman again. In a way she kind of reminded her of her own mother, all old and wrinkly now, but just as full of life and energy. Of course, she always had to remind herself that the NPCs here weren't really alive like the players, but she liked playing with the thought anyway.
Leaning back, she took another bite of the pie, still more than half of it left in the dish. Normally, she would have asked the woman if she wanted to share this pie with her as well, but it was already so late when they made it that she didn't have the heart to keep her up, nor stay up any longer. It left her eating it alone, but not completely as she sat and watched the other players swat their wooden swords at the black birds.

Birds flocked around a woman in white leather armor. They squawked and pecked at her harmlessly. She did her best to ignore them, but it wasn't working as soon she couldn't see where she was going. Red hair and arms flailed about and Tokusie shouted at the birds. "This bread isn't for you, you damn pests. Get away!"
The flailing did very little to ward off the birds. It actually caused her to drop said bread. The item's durability decreased to zero and it disappeared. The woman looked down sadly at it as the birds flew off to be swung at by low levelers.

Hearing a bit of commotion nearby, Xavier towards the sound to find a rather excited woman with some bread flailing around. It seemed that she was trying to get the birds flocking around her to lay off, but to no avail as they continued to torment and harass her. Knowing the things weren't doing the player any harm, Xavier couldn't help but smile at a sight she would normally jump right into, but with no damage done, she found the situation pretty funny.
Watching the bread fall to the ground and pixelized back into the game's data, Xavier decided to get and go to the girl with the suddenly long face. Standing in front of her, she held her partly eaten dessert in one hand and set her other hand on the poor gal's shoulder, "They sure are a nasty bunch aren't they? If you don't mind sharing I got a pretty nice apple-flavored pie with your name on it over by that bench?" Giving her a friendly smile, Xavier nodded towards her lookout point, close enough to watch but far enough not to be bothered by the flocks of ravens. She hated seeing someone down on their luck and was more than willing to offer up a pie she probably couldn't finish alone. "Names Xavier by the way."

"Thank you, I would love that. I'm Tokusie." A warm smile touched her face as she moved towards the bench. She silently rooted on the noobs with sticks as they swung at the little birds. It was just too bad that the birds respawned so damn quick. She sat down with an exasperated sigh and kicked out her feet. It had only be a couple of days here stuck in the game, but her gear spoke of her fight on the front lines.
"Are you here picking recruits for a guild or entertainment while dining?" She looked over for the pie. It was the first time she had sat down to talk to someone. It was strange but made her hopeful. One couldn't survive here alone. She needed to start gathering a force.

Following after the young woman with an easy gait, Xavier spun around slightly as she sat down next to her, glad for the company since she was a rather social creature. Her new companion seemed to be one as well, taking up the offered snack and seat just as easily. What she hadn't expected however, was the woman's- Toksie's- question about why she was there on the bench. Actually, the thought of a guild had never crossed Xavier's mind, making or joining one. Her only plan when joining the game had been to just level up a little, see how it worked, then make plans later, it was just her easy going nature.
"Just for entertainment, it wasn't too long ago that was me struggling with the birds. Watching them now, I get to see how funny I looked waving a sword around trying to beat the things! What about you? Not sure what to think about you getting teased by ravens with them fancy items there." Xavier had taken note of the white clothing, curious as to how strong the woman was. Who knew, perhaps she asked her why she was here to check out the competition for people looking into get players in their guild; there was a limited amount out there.

The pie was to die for. Tokusie had been saving up her Col like an angry mizer at Christmas. She had yet to experience anything besides potions and bread. It was delicious. She couldn't help expressing that either with hums of enjoyment in every bite. She swallowed to answer her tastebud savior.
"It is hard enough to eat and walk let along fight at the same time. I've never been coordinated. I wasn't paying attention to where I was walking. I just wanted to walk. I've been concentrating on questing too much lately and need a break before I go mad." She waved her fork at those that were currently questing. "It is amazing how some people took their time to get to leveling, as if this were some kind of joke. I'm not sure we can make it with these people still in tow."

Chuckling lightly as the woman enjoyed the treat, Xavier chuckled lightly at her various hums of delight. It made her happy to see that she was enjoying the pie she had made with the old woman's help. This was probably the reason she decided to open up her own sweets shop, to see people come in for what they knew would be a more relaxing time away from the monsters and things that go bump in the night.
She had seen people walk around the place like Tokusie before, aimless, with their mind on other things. Sometimes the people looked just plain hopeless, but other times they were like her, simply having their head up in the clouds as they tried to figure something out or get to their dreams. "Yeah, it's good every now and then to just sit back for a few minutes."
It was interesting hearing too, the players who had waited so long before leveling. There were others out there, ones who still hadn't started leveling and never would as well. "I donno, I think it depends on how much motivation and bravery they have after realizing they won't get out without working towards the last floor. You never know when someone gets more motivation and passes you up." Leaning back, Xavier looked up towards the sky, or the floor of the next level. That's where she wanted be. Up there with the top players. She wasn't sure if she had the sort of motivation they did, but she was sure she had the bravery to match. "What's your reason for wanting to get through so quickly?"

"Yeah, kid. The ravens are right out here in the courtyard," Mortambo's voice booms out of the house. "Just come out and face them when you're ready. They are newbie fodder I promise," Mortambo appears filling up the doorway and a muffled voice comes from inside, "Yes, yes, I'll make sure you don't die." He sighs and up towards the flock of ravens that seemed extremely dangerous when he first faced them. He then looks around the courtyard and spies the two ladies. He pulls up his inventory and with a couple of quick flicks takes off his gauntlets as he heads towards the bench they are sitting on. He extends a hand to each of them in turn. "Hello, ladies. I am Mortambo. I'm guessing you aren't on the Beginner's Quest?"

Tokusie shrugs. It was hard to quantify her reason for getting back so quickly. Who wouldn't want to get this over with as soon as possible? Life had to be lived in the real world. She had family and a job and so much else that was waiting on her. She didn't want to die here, that was it really. The longer one stayed here the more chances there were to die. Her lips pressed together as she thought about how to phrase just that without sounding too frantic and scared. Thankfully, a man approached them and interrupted her.
The woman in the well crafted items shifted and raised an eyebrow. "Of course not. I dare say Xavier and I do not look the type to procrastinate getting started." She placed a hand in his. "I am Tokusie."

Though she waited to hear Tokusie's answer, the woman barely had the chance to open her mouth before they were joined by another guest, another player from the front lines it seemed. She had thought she heard someone calling out nearby, but hadn't thought whoever it was would be paying them a little visit as well.
Holding out her hand, Xavier shook Mortabo’s as well, not bothering to repeat her name since Tokusie already introduced her. “I donno, took me a couple days before my gears started turning, but yeah, here I am. Nice to meet ya Morty.” Whether he minded the name or not, she was pretty confident that he would let her know, if not it would be his own fault for not speaking up.
Resting her hand back in her lap, she looked around the man to the house he had come from, “I hear some people got trapped in here with their family, were you one of them?” Obviously she was quite the curious one.
